Rod Marsh Legacy Lives On With Annual Bundy Golf Tournament

February 24 2026

The Rod Marsh trophy is the perpetual award given to the champions of the four-ball Ambrose corporate golf day held in Bundaberg at the Coral Cove golf course. It may not be the Australian Open but the fact that Rod has his name attached to the award makes it a desirable trophy to get the company name on.

“We want it to stay in our circle of friends”, said David Hillier, who was the defending champion with his local corporate team from Bundaberg Toyota. He meant it too. David picked Rod Marsh up from Bundaberg airport and was driving him to this very golf day in 2022 when Rod had his fatal heart attack. This golf day might be just a bit of fun to some, but Rod’s heart attack impacted the town and the locals feel a sense of patriotism, wanting to play for the man who flew in to entertain them but never got the chance.

The Coral Cove golf course was in splendid condition since the team at DevCore had taken over. With 22 corporate teams fighting for the honour, David Hillier would have his work cut out trying to become the first back to back champion, but with fellow sponsors, Ulton and a host of other affiliated companies in the field, it might still be a “friendly” rival who gets to scribe their name into the perpetual trophy.

Each corporate team is comprised of three members, with the fourth being a Bulls Masters representative. Hillier played with Jimmy Maher, whilst Alex Ross, Ian Healy, Michael Kasprowicz, Andy Bichel, Callum Vidler, Bryce Street, Tom Whitney, Steve Paulsen, Gavin Fitness, Nathan Hauritz, Carl Rackemann, Joe Dawes, Luke Feldman, Michael Philipson, Ken Healy and many more represented the Bulls Masters in the field.

After all was said and done, Hiller’s team from Bundaberg Toyota were narrowly pipped by the team from Jabb Mining. Jabb is the business of Club 95 Memebr, John Howard who played with his son Ben and friend Helen Ricciardi. Bryce Street was the Bulls Master who played in the winning side!

A big thanks must go to DevCore, Bundaberg Toyota and Ulton Financial for sponsoring the day!
