South East QLD Schools Program
Bulls Masters – South East QLD Schools Program (Aug/Sep 2017)
The purpose of the program was to engage chosen students through cricket activity and deliver some key messages with a view to improve behaviour and attendance at school. The over-riding themes that we reinforced were:
- Respect
- Teamwork
- Choices
- Chasing your Dream
- Being actively engaged
Our strategy at each individual session was to provide high volume, fielding, batting and other vital sports skills with specific outcomes to ignite skill development and participation. We visited 4 separate schools, with over 180 kids, plus held a celebration BBQ to reward the participation and behaviour of the kids.
All schools visited displayed strong multicultural engagement, which was a key priority for our program. Not only has the program been completed successfully but a follow up post program engagement strategy implemented by each of the schools will ensure these sessions will have a long lasting impact.
Thanks to the Bulls Masters coaches Nathan Reardon, Chris Simpson, Andy Bichel, Gavin Fitness and Lee Carseldine for your efforts at the individual school visits and to Peter Drinnen for you work coaching the sessions.
