Maroon Cap Day

Past Queensland Cricketers flocked to Allan Border Field for the Bulls Masters first annual Maroon Cap Day reunion. Held on the second day of the Queensland Bulls Sheffield Shield game against the Western Warriors, the day saw players across eight decades come together for a barbecue, beers and to share some memories.

"It's important to keep as many of the past players engaged in the game as possible, so this is a very important day for us", Bulls Masters Managing Director, Jimmy Maher said.

Many legends of the game were present, including Ian Healy, Michael Kasprowicz, Carl Rackemann, Ryan Harris and Geoff Dymock to name a few, but this was a day for all Queensland cricketers, whether they'd played 1 first class game or 100. The girls were in strong attendance leg by Julia Price, but one of the most distinguished guests of the day was 90 year old Phyl Manson who played for Queensland through the 1940's and is considered one of the pioneers of the womens game in this state.

Bulls Masters Chairman, Ian Healy was heartened by the big turn out but hopes more players will attend in future years. "We didn't have long to organise it but hopefully those who couldn't be here today will hear about what a great day it is and make an effort to come. Hopefully we'll have twice as many next year".
