The Bulls Masters Country Challenge is under two weeks away and the Far North Fusion will be the team to beat again after claiming their third title earlier this year at the Gabba. The Fusion have proven to be hard to defeat on their home ground since the event moved to Cairns, making every final and winning two of the past three Country Challenge Cups.
Central Queensland Seamers pushed the Fusion all the way in last year’s Gabba Final, but there will be a new look side after a few of their cornerstone players retired.
The Gold Coast Thunder are back in the competition, replacing South East Queensland Stormers. The only two sides who have never won a Bulls Masters Country Challenge title are Wide Bay Flames and Darling Downs Suns. The Suns have made one Gabba Final but unfortunately for them, it was in 2021 when the Final had to be cancelled due to a Covid -19 lock-down.
The tournament begins on Friday evening the 3rd of September at Griffiths Park in Cairns with the semi-finals to decide the Gabba finalists to be played on Sunday afternoon.
